2024

In 2024, Dr. Bourgeault’s University of Ottawa Chair in Gender, Diversity and the Professions was renewed for another five years from 2024-2029.

2023

In 2023, Dr. Bourgeault was awarded the Healthcare Management Forum Article of the Year by the Canadian College of Health Leaders for the article she published with colleagues entitled: The pathway from mental health, leaves of absence, and return to work of health professionals: Gender and leadership matter.  

2022

In 2022, Dr. Bourgeault received CIHR funding to research the effects of COVID-19 on the health workforce.

2020

2019

In 2019, Dr. Bourgeault received a University Research Chair in Gender, Diversity and the Professions.

“The issue is not only women’s representation in leadership position in health and academic professions, but also how everyday inequities and incivilities they experience affects their sense of psychological health and safety in the workplace,” explains Professor Bourgeault. “We also need to explore other dimensions of inequity that women of color, Indigenous women and those living with various forms of disability disproportionately experience in the health and academic professions,” she adds.

2018

In 2018, Dr. Bourgeault was recognized as one of the top Canadian Women in Global Health by the Canadian Society for International Health.

2017

In 2017, Dr. Bourgeault received the University of Ottawa and Association of Professors at the University of Ottawa Award for Excellence in Research.

2016

In 2016, Dr. Bourgeault was inducted into the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences for her contributions to the promotion of health sciences.

Also in 2016, Dr. Bourgeault was awarded the Established Researcher Award with the Telfer School of Management.

She also received the Professor of the Year award from the Master of Health Administration Students’ Association.

2014

In 2014, Dr. Bourgeault received the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health Chair in Gender, Work and Health Human Resources.

Also in 2014, Dr. Bourgeault received a Visiting Scholar Award from the University of Sydney for her work on health worker migration.
